ILS Document Scanning System (DSS) Print
ImageThe ILS DSS system is a Windows 2000, XP and 2003 based solution for managing a wide variety of document and file types. It can be used to index and organize pre-existing digital files (e.g. documents, CAD, GIS, pictures) as well as input (scan) documents from paper sources of any size using industry standard TWAIN and ISIS compliant scanners and capture devices. DSS is database independent and can work with a variety of relational database management technologies.

DSS uses industry standards for storage of images in the ILS Image Server. This image server is compliant with the ODMA - Open Document Management API as described by AIIM - the Enterprise Content Management Association (www.aiim.org), of which ILS is a member. This means information is easily shared with other applications and information systems.

DSS is modular in design and can be interfaced with other workflow applications using the API available for the DSS Image Storage Server, as well as the Active X API for display and scanning. DSS can operate in stand-alone mode or in a networked environment. It has an optional web server module, which enables Web Browser based searching and display of stored images.

DSS is proven technology installed in more than 53 government offices worldwide.

DSS allows system administrators to create and modify index fields and to establish which users can perform specific functions within the system, such as scanning, indexing, reporting and querying. DSS is extremely scaleable and is able to work in environments ranging from as few as 50 documents a day to more than 7,000 documents per day. Its full-text search capability provides valuable information extraction capabilities from documents that are scanned into the system. DSS supports versioning of documents, which is important to users that have documents that can change over time. Each unique version is stored in the database for easy retrieval, display, printing, or further revision.
