GAF AG, a private sector enterprise founded in 1985, began by providing services centred on earth observation satellite data. These services were soon combined with information system technology.

Today, GAF offers a broad range of applications, ranging from geodata procurement (satellite data, DEM, land use and land cover data), image processing and analysis, information processing and software development to the provision of turn-key technical assistance projects related to agriculture, forestry, geology, environment, land management and infrastructure. A specific strength developed during the years is centred on project management and capacity building in all projects dealing with geo-information, remote sensing-, database- and information systems technology. GAF has currently 50 permanent staff, and a virtually worldwide network of specialised extramural experts in the geo-information industry. GAF belongs to the Telespazio group of companies.

GAF has a proven track record of successfully completed projects for KfW, GTZ, World Bank,Asian Development Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, Kuwait Fund, European Union Programmes, European Space Agency, many private firms and customers and national/state Administrations and Ministries. Our project locations are spread over 60 countries and 5 continents.

GAF implemented a Quality Management System at an early stage and received full DIN EN ISO 9001:1994 certification in September 1995. GAF has now introduced and certified its fully electronic, intranet based system following the new standard DIN EN ISO 9000:2000. The QM procedures in place are specifically designed to suit an internationally active geo-information and information system consulting firm, and they conform with the best international practise rules and German industry standards.

GAF is a minority shareholder in ILS.
