SILVER SPRING, MD (October 3, 2007) – International Land Systems (ILS), Inc. is pleased to announce the Montgomery County, Virginia Circuit Court Clerk’s office is now accepting satisfaction of mortgage and assignment land record documents electronically via the ILS Land Titles Office (LTO) eRecording software module. Montgomery County is one of the first Clerk’s offices in Virginia to receive and record electronic documents over the Internet.
The Clerk’s office currently uses the ILS LTO deeds recording system to manage all land related and court order documents. Official property records such as deeds and satisfaction of mortgages must be filed at the Clerk’s office for legal documentation of real estate transactions that occur in Montgomery County. Now, with the County utilizing an eRecording system, submission of these documents may be made securely via the Internet, simplifying the entire recording procedure. This method increases efficiency within the Clerk’s office and reduces the submission time and associated costs for filers. Previously, satisfaction of mortgage documents and assignments were mailed to the office, manually cashiered, indexed, and scanned in the LTO system by Clerk’s office staff, and then mailed back to the filer. With eRecording, documents that once took days to process manually are now submitted, recorded, and returned electronically in a matter of seconds over the Internet. “The ILS eRecording system provides my office and the public with a tremendous efficiency gain. Not only are we reducing the amount of paper handled by the office, but we are also automating the entire recording process and therefore providing cost benefits to the County and to the real estate market,” said Allan C. Burke, Clerk of the Montgomery County Circuit Court. The ILS eRecording software is a Java based module which integrates with the ILS LTO deeds recording system and the ILS LRS title based system. Built on Property Records Industry Association (PRIA) standards, XML, and web services technologies, it allows any recording or registry office to support all levels of the eRecording process. Montgomery County and the Circuit Court Clerk’s office added the ILS eRecording module to its LTO system in order to stay on the forefront of land records technology. “The eRecording system fits easily into our overall environment. The elegant design of this system makes it virtually maintenance-free from our perspective.” – Montgomery County Information Management Services For information on how to start eRecording with the Montgomery County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office please contact Clerk Allan C.
